Leakage in Nanometer CMOS Technologies

May 28, 2010 by AboutNanoWires.com · Leave a Comment

Product Description

The goal of Leakage in Nanometer CMOS Technologies is to provide ample detail so that the reader can understand why leakage power components are becoming increasingly relevant in CMOS systems that use nanometer scale MOS devices. Leakage current sources at the MOS device level including sub-threshold and different types of tunneling are discussed in detail. The book covers promising solutions at the device, circuit, and architecture levels of abstraction.

Manifestation of these MOS device leakage components at the full chip level depends considerably on several aspects including the nature of the circuit block, its state, its application workload, and Process/Voltage/Temperature conditions. The sensitivity of the various MOS leakage sources to these conditions are described from the first principles.  The resulting manifestations are discussed at length to help the reader understand the effectiveness of leakage power reduction solutions under these different conditions.

Case studies are presented to highlight real world examples that reap the benefits of leakage power reduction solutions.  Finally, the book highlights different device design choices that exist to mitigate increases in the leakage components as technology scales.

Product Description
The area of tribology deals with the design, friction, wear and lubrication of interacting surfaces in relative motion. Polymer nanocomposite materials are increasingly common and offer remarkable improvements in the friction and wear properties of both bulk materials and coatings.

This book gives a comprehensive description of polymeric nanocomposites, both as bulk materials and as thin surface coatings, and their behavior and potential use in tribological applications. It provides the preparation techniques, friction and wear mechanisms, properties of polymeric nanocomposites, characterization, evaluation and selection methodology. It also provides various examples of application of polymeric nanocomposites.

* Provides a complete reference from the preparation to the selection of polymeric nanocomposites
* Explains the theory through examples of real world applications
* More than 20 international tribology experts contribute to their area of expertise

Portable Technologies – Science Learning in Context (INNOVATIONS IN SCIENCE EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY

May 17, 2010 by AboutNanoWires.com · Leave a Comment

Product Description
Education has traditionally studied the world by bringing it into the classroom. This can result in situated learning that appears to students to have no relevance outside the classroom. Students acquire inert, decontextualized knowledge that they cannot apply to real problems. The obvious solution to this shortcoming is to reverse the situation and bring the classroom to the phenomena: to learn in a rich, real-world context. The problem with the real world is that it is complex and filled with interactions that are hard to sort out. The editors and authors believe that the right tools might help students with this sorting process and result in learning in rich contexts. This book is an account of a series of experiments designed to explore the validity of this insight.
