Following the lecture, she receives a phone call from KITT warning her about the men attempting to abduct her, and instructing her to safety. Her pursuers catch her, but KITT arrives and rescues her. Sarah and KITT escape, and leave to track down Traceur, who turns out to be her childhood friend, and whom she was previously involved with but has not seen since he left home at 18. They find him at the Montecito Casino, playing poker to attempt to repay his debt. He is initially resistant when Sarah asks for his help, but agrees when she offers to pay his debt, and the two set out to find out what happened to Graiman, and discover who’s after them.

This is significant because it offers an opportunity to use new types of active components for the batteries.
The active components in a secondary cell are the chemicals that make up the positive and negative active materials, and the electrolyte. The positive and negative are made up of different materials, with the positive exhibiting a reduction potential and the negative having an oxidation potential. The sum of these potentials is the standard cell potential or voltage.
In primary cells the positive and negative electrodes are known as the cathode and anode, respectively. In rechargeable cells the positive electrode is the cathode on discharge and the anode on charge, and vice versa for the negative electrode.
Already, several alternatives to rechargeable batteries exist or are under development. For transportation, uninterruptible power supply systems and laboratories, flywheel energy storage systems store energy in a spinning rotor for reconversion to electric power when needed; such systems may be used to provide large pulses of power that would otherwise be objectionable on a common electrical grid. For uses like portable radios and flashlights, rechargeable batteries may be replaced by clockwork mechanisms or dynamos which are cranked by the user to provide power.
A future development could be ultracapacitors for transportation, using a large capacitor to store energy instead of the rechargeable battery banks used in hybrid vehicles. One drawback to capacitors compared with batteries is that the terminal voltage drops rapidly; a capacitor that has 25% of its initial energy left in it will have one-half of its initial voltage. However, there are potential benefits in cycle efficiency, lifetime, and weight compared with the rechargeable batteries system.

A paper battery based on carbon nanotubes and silver nanowires could store an electric charge in a mobile device. Researchers also claim the new battery is disposable and that its shape could conform to the shape of different devices.
A Stanford University researcher said his team has demonstrated conductive coatings for battery components ranging from supercapacitors to inexpensive electrodes. The process could be commercially available in several years, according to Yi Cui, a Stanford assistant professor of materials science and engineering.
“Paper can now be used as a substrate to make functional conductive electrodes,” the Stanford researcher said.
The conductive paper was prepared by coating it with a special nano-ink solution containing carbon nanotubes and silver nanowires, which assemble into a thin film of one-dimensional structures that adhere to the fibrous paper surface. The coated sheet of paper became a highly conductive storage device, which the researchers charged, then connected to power light-emitting diodes.
Batteries can store a charge longer than capacitors but cannot supply as much current per unit of time. Stanford’s conductive paper could be used to build either type, but the researchers claim that its high conductivity and high surface-to-volume ratio could enable supercapacitors for electric cars, which depend on quick jolts of electricity during acceleration.
The researchers also predict that paper storage devices could be used in massive arrays to store excess energy from power grids at night, then redistribute it during the day.
In tests, the Standford researchers were able to charge and discharge the paper battery up to 40,000 times, a 10-fold increase over conventional lithium-ion batteries.
